The Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) has unveiled an exciting opportunity for aspiring professionals with the opening of a selection process for 1,665 vacancies in free subsequent technical courses. Targeting those who have already completed high school, enrollment is set for the first semester of 2026, allowing students to gain valuable skills and a nationally recognized diploma.

IFMS is offering three distinct technical courses:

1. Administration
2. Logistics
3. Computer Maintenance and Support

These programs cater exclusively to candidates holding a high school diploma or its equivalent, providing a solid foundation for those aiming to enhance their knowledge and career prospects.

A Unique Learning Modality

Unlike traditional distance learning programs, the courses at IFMS follow a blended learning approach. While theoretical components are primarily delivered in a virtual format, students are required to attend in-person classes at their chosen campus at least once a week. This blend of online learning with on-site engagement ensures a rich educational experience.

Typically, in-person meetings occur during the evening, with some campuses offering Saturday morning classes. This schedule allows flexibility for students who may be balancing work or other responsibilities.

Participation Rules and Quotas

To qualify for enrollment, candidates must have completed their high school education or an equivalent. Importantly, there is no age restriction, allowing both young graduates and mature students the chance to apply.

IFMS implements Affirmative Action (quotas) in line with Law No. 12.711/2012. At least 50% of the vacancies in each course are reserved for candidates who completed their entire high school in public schools or affiliated community institutions focused on rural education. Within this framework, specific sub-quotas exist for low-income individuals, self-identified Black and mixed-race candidates, Indigenous peoples, Quilombolas, and persons with disabilities.

However, those who have attended even part of high school in a private institution, including those on scholarships, are not eligible for the quotas and must apply through the general admission process.

Selection Process Through Electronic Draw

The selection for these technical courses does not involve a written exam or academic assessment. Instead, it relies solely on an electronic draw system. All registered candidates will participate in this random selection, ensuring a transparent process that can be audited.

The draw is scheduled for online streaming on IFMS’s YouTube channel at 10:00 AM on January 8, 2026. Each candidate will be assigned a participation number, which will be publicly announced alongside the list of approved registrations.

In cases where approved registrations are fewer than the available spots, all candidates will be admitted based on general competition without the need for a draw. Additionally, the lottery can be waived if the candidate numbers exceed available spots by up to 10%.

Important Dates for Registration and Classes

After the electronic draw, preliminary and final results will be published on the IFMS Selection Center website, as outlined in Public Notice No. 084/2025. The final classification is set for January 13, 2026.

Selected candidates should complete their online registration between January 20 and February 2, 2026. This process involves submitting required documentation outlined in the call for applications. Classes are anticipated to commence between March 16 and 21, 2026, according to each campus’s academic calendar.

Candidates who fail to meet the registration deadlines or cannot adequately document their eligibility will forfeit their places, which will then be offered to those on the waiting list.

How to Enroll in IFMS’s Technical Courses

Enrollment for the IFMS courses is conducted exclusively online. Interested candidates must navigate to the IFMS Selection Center website to complete their registration.

The registration window will close on December 14, 2025. Applicants need to fill out a registration form with personal information, select their preferred campus or learning center, and indicate whether they will apply through the general admission process or the quota system.
