His previous tenure as vice president for technology and chief information officer for the UNC System from 2022 to 2024 reflects his depth of knowledge in this field.

His educational journey continued at Liberty University, where he obtained an MBA, culminating in a Ph.D. in leadership studies from North Carolina A&T.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Ferrell has an extensive record of community engagement. He has served on numerous boards, including the Danville Regional Foundation Board and the Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corp.
